2. Can I control the CIARRA Smart Island Cooker Hood remotely?
Yes, the CIARRA Smart Island Cooker Hood can be controlled remotely via the Smart Life App, which connects to the cooker hood through WiFi. This app allows you to manage 4 fan speeds, adjust the 2-level dimmable LED lights, and activate the Air Purifying function directly from your smartphone, giving you full control over your kitchen ventilation system.
3. Can An Island Cooker Hood be Used Only in Recirculation Mode? Is the Grease and Odor Removal Effective Enough?
Yes, it is used only in recirculation mode. It uses an aluminum grease filter and activated carbon filter to capture grease and reduce cooking odors. The activated carbon filter effectively helps absorb cooking odors, while the powerful 700 m³/h extraction rate quickly draws in grease, steam, and odor-laden air for better recirculation performance.
4. How Often Should the Activated Carbon Filter Be Replaced? Is It Expensive?
CIARRA recommends replacing the CBCF003 carbon filter every 2–4 months. Replacement frequency depends on cooking frequency and usage. The replacement cost is approximately $30 per filter.
5. Is There a Washable or Regenerable Activated Carbon Filter?
The included CBCF003 carbon filter is replaceable, not washable or regenerable. The aluminum grease filter can be removed and cleaned, including in a dishwasher.
6. How High Should an Island Cooker Hood be Installed?
The recommended clearance above the hob is 650–750 mm. The installation height is adjustable from 100–2000 mm, using the supplied 2 m steel suspension wires. For installation, adjust all four steel cables evenly and use a spirit level to keep the hood perfectly horizontal. The cables can only be adjusted while pressing the cable-holder tips.
7. How Much Airflow / Extraction Rate Do I Need?
This model provides up to 700 m³/h extraction, with four fan speeds from 241 to 643 m³/h, giving you flexible airflow for different cooking needs. Use the first setting for light cooking or simmering, the second for everyday cooking, the third for frying or cooking with more steam, and the highest setting for heavy frying, grilling, or strong odors.
8. How Loud is the Island Cooker Hood?
The noise level is approximately 46 dB(A) on the lowest setting and up to 61 dB(A) on the highest setting. At lower speeds, the sound is relatively gentle—similar to a quiet conversation or a calm indoor environment—while the highest setting produces a more noticeable fan sound for stronger extraction.
9. Can My Ceiling Structure Support the Weight?
The hood weighs 12 kg and is designed to be secured to a ceiling joist using the supplied steel plate and suspension wires. A qualified installer should check the ceiling structure if necessary.
